New Steps Towards Sustainability at Château Roylland

A prospective approach towards sustainable development and organic vineyard management has become a crucial issue in recent years.

Château Roylland wishes to become increasingly committed to nature-friendly viticulture techniques. Therefore, in 2021, we are increasing our agroecological actions that originated several years ago as an integral part of the wine production process.

Since May 2020, the wine estate has been a certified AREA (Agriculture Respectueuse de l’Environnement en Nouvelle-Aquitaine), which stands for environmentally friendly agriculture in Nouvelle-Aquitaine. This certification guarantees, among other things, that we respect a certain number of environmental commitments, such as biodiversity preservation, phytosanitary strategy, water and energy resource management. This certification is equivalent to level 2 of the HVE certification, the highest level of farm environmental certification in France.

Still, Château Roylland has decided to go even further in its environmental commitment. Since 2021, we have been transitioning towards organic viticulture and shall obtain our label in three years.
